Mission informationEdit

After narrowly escaping Dis Base, the team appear in a hellish dimension crawling with terrible creatures that appear to be literal demons. They must survive and try and escape.

PlotEdit

The team navigate the hellish landscape, visiting an eree dark building made of skeletons and a tower made literally from flesh before climbing a huge dark temple and appearing before a stygian tower. At the top of this was a monsterous floating demon which belched out energy blasts that shook the entire building. The creature was finally defeated, and upon it's death a portal opened up - the team jumped through before it closed again and found themselves on another part of the Ganymede base that wasn't caught in the blast.

James summons the Epion to pick the team up, and they discover that the creature's death has had consequences. It apparently unleashed an energy wave of some form resulting in demonic attacks in several areas on Earth.

GameplayEdit

Abyss1

You'll find your equipment stripped by the portal when you enter, but dotted through the level are hellish weapons you can use instead. Gameplay is similar to Dis base apart from the usage of new weapons; the floating red crystals restore your health so keep an eye out for them.

When you reach the top of the tower you'll fight the Abyss despot - the Stygian Warcannon is the best weapon to use as it deals good damage against the creature. When it's eyes light up it's preparing to fire an energy blast that has a large blast radius, so either get far away or take cover behind one of the pillars.

SecretsEdit

There's 1 secret in the abyss.

FirstEdit

When you reach the grey skeletal section with the bone-duster weapon, behind the switch at the top of the left section is a floating platform that reveals more - follow this round, and when it stops jump into the black wall to reveal a room with a megasphere in it.

Items of interestEdit

At the section of the dark building which you arrive at before you climb the stairs, there are 3 platforms located around it. Each one has a different pick-up; a stygian warcannon, a megasphere, and super armour. Make sure to grab them if needed before you climb the tower.

TriviaEdit

Abyss2

Quite clearly inspired by Doom, Abyss was mostly made by me (James) with Mikko contributing the end section with the tower and the boss arena. Sangluss also contributed a part to the map, but that was eventually cut.

There was a couple of cutscenes planned for the map, but voice acting was never recorded for it and it would of also stopped the flow of the map. The strange black tablet just before the climb to the black building was the source of this conversation.
